About the Artist Shirley Mapes, better know as Missy Mapes, has been woodturning since 1994. Her Dad instilled the life-long love for wood as she watched and learned from him. Later, her Uncle introduced her to the art of woodturning. Each piece is turned with the personal goal of enhancing creativity and woodturning technique. Missy Mapes is a member of The American Woodturning Association and the Michigan Woodturners Association. The majority of the wood used originates from storm fallen trees throughout the Michigan area. |
